  • Copyright vs Trademark: What's the difference? What does a Copyright protect? What does a Trademark protect? Where do I apply? How do I apply? Find out more about these question at our upcoming Copyrights & Trademarks for Artists & Musicians Presentation Thursday September 26th, 214 N Ottawa Street in Joliet at 6:30pm. Tickets are just $25.00. LEARN FROM THE BEST Peter Strand has extensive experience drafting, analyzing, revising, and negotiating complex entertainment industry agreements including record contracts, music publishing agreements, literary publishing agreements, film and television production agreements (producer, director, actor, composer, location, etc.), content and catalogue acquisition and distribution agreements, and agreements between creative collaborators (songwriters, co-authors, bands, production companies). He represents content creators and providers including authors, songwriters and composers, recording artists, musicians, television and film writers, independent record labels, music publishers, independent film producers and documentarians, and production companies in various transactional and litigation matters in the entertainment industry. In addition to contract preparation, analysis, and negotiation, he assists clients with protecting and enforcing their copyrights, trademarks, and other intellectual property rights; licensing or exploiting their creative works; acquiring and distributing content; and selecting, securing, and protecting product and service brand names. In addition to his law practice, Peter teaches music law as an adjunct professor at Marquette University School of Law. • On Sunday July 14th, the museum suffered damage as the result of a microburst in downtown Joliet. The building took a heavy hit as part of the roof of the Joliet Junior College City Center Campus blew off and landed on the museum. We are extremely grateful that no one was injured during this tragedy. We have been temporarily closed to the public this past week as we work with our contractors through the cleanup process. We are fortunate that Gigantar, our exhibit artifacts and the gift shop merchandise all escaped any damage. While insurance will cover the cost of repairs to the building, it will not cover utilities, mortgage and other incidentals that become a deficit due to the temporary closure and loss of revenue. Can you help us with Gettin' Back In The Groove? Please consider a donation and help us continue our work. www.roadtorock.org/donate/ We are...#RoadToRock We are...#RoadToRockStrong

  • The Civil Right Movement has been described as one of the greatest singing movements that this country has experienced. From "We Shall Overcome" to "This Little Light of Mine," music played a vital role as an inspirational rallying point and as a way to spread the message of equality and justice. In a show created to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the civil rights movement, award-winning Illinois folksinger Chris Vallillo performs pivotal songs from the music that inspired and sustained this landmark movement. Intermixed with the music, Vallillo presents first-hand accounts of the historic struggle and discusses the impact of music to one of our nation's most important social causes. https://lnkd.in/gR8FAzHk
