IFB is a not for profit corporation. IFB’s legal name is the Illinois Agricultural Association which was founded in 1916 by a group of farmers who met at the University of Illinois to discuss the need for education, better information, and more effective farming practices. Illinois Farm Bureau? programs and services are available only to Farm Bureau? members within Illinois. FARM BUREAU? and FB? are registered service marks owned by the American Farm Bureau Federation. Amelia Cheek is part of our Environmental team, or as we like to call them, the 'E-Team.' Check out her insights after visiting the hypoxia zone in the Gulf of Mexico.
I joined a group of Midwestern Ag representatives on a visit to Southern Louisiana to get a holistic view of the issues and perspectives from local groups. We had a great trip with candid discussions about their most pressing issues. We are striving to understand agricultures specific contributions to Mississippi/Atchafalaya River Basin (MARB), the third largest in the world - parts or all of 31 states plus two Canadian provinces -but recognize, it is complicated.
