Professor Cunjiang Yu and his team have developed a self-adhesive rubbery bio-optoelectronic stimulator (RBOES)—an ultra-thin material that conforms to the heart and provides light-powered electrical stimulation to regulate heartbeat. Unlike rigid materials that restrict motion, RBOES moves seamlessly with the heart, making it a promising solution for treating arrhythmia and other cardiovascular diseases. The goal? A less invasive, biodegradable therapy that eliminates the need for open-heart surgery. ?? Backed by Texas Heart Institute, NIH, NSF, and more, this research is pushing the boundaries of bioelectronics and medical innovation.
