  • Several weeks ago, the IAEA received updates on the Illinois Arts Indicator. The Arts Indicator was a mandatory measure for schools to achieve in support of a high-quality education. The Indicator, passed by the ISBE in 2020, was to be the first of its kind in the United States. Unfortunately, ISBE shared that it will be redesigning its accountability tools and will not include the Arts Indicator as a measure to identify a high-quality education program. By leaving the inclusion of the arts entirely up to schools and districts without enforcement, Illinois will be moving backwards towards fostering creative learning as an outcome of education. ISBE is starting listening tour sessions across Illinois. This will enable IAEA members to voice our dissatisfaction with this direction. Here are the dates and locations. Click on the date(s) that have hyperlinks to sign up with Arts Alliance and the times: April 7 – John A. Logan College, 700 Logan College Drive, Carterville, IL 62918 https://lnkd.in/g5MGF7dT
