The ATRAVEL Tool is designed to estimate the costs, travel time, and emissions of private vehicle ownership and various travel modes, tailored to your location and travel habits. In this example using ATRAVEL's Trip Tool, I wanted to see what the annual cost, travel, time, and GHG emissions were for a 2018 Subaru Forester to drive from Fort Wayne, IN to Columbus, OH. The 16,467 miles I would drive in one year just on this trip shows that is is less costly to own a vehicle, and it leaves a smaller carbon footprint. You can also see annual household vehicle costs by census track, zip code, municipality, county, state, and more in the Metric Tool part of ATRAVEL.
