We're Hiring! The Capital Development Board is looking for a Contract Administrator to join our agency! QUALIFICATIONS: ??Two (2) years of supervisory experience, planning and organizing work assignments to meet agency goals and schedules while establishing and maintaining satisfactory working relationships with agency staff and outside organizations. ??Prefers two (2) years of experience exercising sound judgment in analyzing, evaluating, and solving difficult procedural, organizational, administrative, and technical issues. ??Prefers two (2) years of experience with state government construction and applicable procurement code(s), in addition to other procurement regulations. ??Prefers two (2) years of experience with state government organizations, especially as it relates to physical plant facilities, negotiation techniques, agency policies, procedures, and mission. ??Prefers two (2) years of experience with analysis of construction costs, contract law, and administration, general engineering/architecture knowledge and general accounting principles. ??Prefers two (2) years of experience applying human relations skills in interactions with government agencies, businesses, private industry and the general public. ??Prefers two (2) years of experience independently evaluating project elements and preparing economic data for effective communication both orally and in writing in a fluent and meaningful manner to groups. ??? We’re excited to share that the renovation of the Old State Capitol State Historic Site in Springfield is 95% complete. This incredible transformation is a big win for both Illinois tourism and the capital city economy. The blend of historical preservation, modern technology, and safety and accessibility improvements will enhance the visitor experience and ensure the preservation of the Old State Capitol for years to come! Here’s a glimpse of the upgrades: ??ADA Improvements: New accessible bathrooms, wider exterior entrance gates, and compliant walkways make it easier for everyone to enjoy the site. ?? Innovative Additions: A new family bathroom suite with a nursing seat and changing station, lockers for personal belongings, and a laundry area to promote the reuse of materials used for site cleaning and events. ??Reconstruction of Elevators: As part of the renovation, four elevators were completely reconstructed to improve accessibility and service throughout the building. ?? Enhanced Security & Efficiency: Expanded employee card readers for secure access, more than 200 new LED light fixtures to reduce electric and maintenance costs, and an improved fire protection system. ??Tech Upgrades: New servers, electronic wiring, and improved HVAC controls with electronic thermostats for a modern, more comfortable environment. ??Historic Preservation: New roof, downspouts, and waterproofing under north and south entrances and new stonework around the moat. Also, 10 windows and exterior fence restored according to historic preservation standards. The Old State Capitol welcomes over 90,000 visitors each year, and with these upgrades, it’s only going to get better! Construction at the Philip J. Rock Center and School is progressing nicely, with the project now 47% complete! This week starts a major milestone with concrete being poured on each floor, which will allow the roof installation to move forward and make the building weather tight. The project will create a 24,665 square foot facility dedicated to supporting children with hearing and vision disabilities and their families. The renovation includes comprehensive upgrades to electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire protection systems, and accessibility features. Additionally, new flooring, ceilings, lighting, fencing, pavements, storm drainage, and a revamped playground are included in the scope of work. CDB joined the Illinois Department of Transportation and The Korte Company today for a beam signing event. The signed beam will be placed next week on the new research and materials lab, a 77,000 square foot facility located on the Harry Hanley campus in #SpringfieldIL. This new facility will enhance IDOT’s operations, fostering greater collaboration and efficiency. The joint venture team of Poettker Construction Company and Clayco is making incredible progress on Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s Health Science Building! Walls are being framed, drywall and painting are underway, and flooring installation is moving full speed ahead. New windows are going in, exterior block work continues, and roofing systems are being installed. Mechanical piping and elevator installation are also in full swing!
