Important Message from The IIDA Oregon Chapter: In this moment, we recognize the weight many are carrying with the outcome of the election last week. It’s a time of profound emotion, and the need to express the range of emotions is part of the human condition.?Yet, amidst the feelings, some truths shine through. Together, as Commerical Interior Designers, advocates, and humans, our shared values and commitment to each other persist. In this moment, we’re called to lean deeply into this community we’ve built—a community where?radical belonging isn’t just a vision, but an imperative. We strive for IIDA to foster?human-to-heart connection—a space where we hold each other up and amplify each other’s strength. We are designers, builders of a better tomorrow, and we’re not alone. Our hands and hearts, together, will continue the work of creating a society that embraces justice, equity, and radical belonging. In our partnerships and through our shared mission, let’s stay focused on what matters most: uplifting one another and?designing a future that holds space for all.

Washington State School for the Blind's Life Skills Training Center has been nominated for the IIDA Oregon Chapter 2024 Design Excellence Awards People's Choice Awards! The design of the building focuses on how spaces feel, smell, and sound rather than solely relying on visual appeal. To promote communal interaction between residents and enhance social skills, the shared living area provides soft furnishings; the dining room features a tactile art gallery wall with pieces created by blind and low vision artists; and spaces are provided for those who want to play instruments, make art, or exercise together. We're honored to be nominated for this category and would love your support in casting a vote by Friday, October 18th!
