On Monday, September 2nd, a cohort of health care leaders gathered at West Ham United's London Stadium to discuss future innovation and aspirational prevention to some of society’s most serious health problems. At the core of the event, football and sport were the hook to bring the guests together, and a friendly 9-a-side football match followed at the nearby Bobby Moore Academy. When discussing the event, IHI Vice President Pedro Delgado added, "The match between London United and Health United was testament to the potential of football to build bridges across individuals and organisations in service of best possible health for all. Improving population health with and for communities will take an ever increasing set of active stakeholders collaborating to co-create innovative solutions, and to continuously learn, iterate and improve over time. We’re excited about what’s ahead!” Thanks to London United for organizing this special event. Read the full article here: https://bit.ly/47tIbAH

IHI has released a new Innovation Report titled "Advancing Measure-Informed Care in Mental Health," describing how practices can improve the adoption of measurement-based and measure-informed strategies in mental health care, within their infrastructure and workforce constraints. Measure-informed care, another avenue for practices to integrate measurement, focuses less on protocols and more on using the best available evidence like leveraging standardized measures to track symptomatology and treatment progress. While measurement-based care has a more robust evidence base, measure-informed care is a newer, innovative practice with potential to address some of the patient- and clinician-driven barriers to implementing measurement-based care. RamaOnHealthcare recently published a Q&A with Josh Clark, VP of Quality and Safety Operating Systems at IHI, to discuss how the IHI Care Operating System can benefit health systems. "It is important to recognize that no one wants better outcomes for patients than frontline staff. When they see their patients experience less-than-optimal outcomes, it weighs heavily on them. In care operating systems, frontline staff clearly understand the organization’s improvement priorities and how their daily work connects to the most important outcomes," Josh says.
