The SYNTHIA Consortium Supports #RareDiseaseDay 2025: Leverage synthetic data to advance personalized medicine in Multiple Myeloma and DLBC ??. On #RareDiseaseDay, we reaffirm our commitment to driving data-driven innovation for rare diseases. In SYNTHIA, we focus on 6 use cases among which Multiple Myeloma (MM) and Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma (DLBCL)— 2 complex hematological malignancies where data availability is crucial for research, yet often limited due to privacy and accessibility constraints. SYNTHIA Synthetic Data Generation (SDG) developers, FAIR #data experts, clinical #researchers, developers of therapies and data-based tools, legal experts, socio-economic analysts, #regulatory, #policy advocacy, and communication experts aim to provide a 360o vision of how to advance healthcare applications through SD use. Follow us in this challenge. #SYNTHIA is funded by the Innovative Health Initiative (IHI) #RDD2025 #SYNTHIA #SyntheticData #RareDiseases #MultipleMyeloma #MM #Lymphoma #DLBCL #DataInnovation #PrecisionMedicine #FutureOfMedicine #Datascience #EUInnovation #HealthResearch #publicprivatepartnership #hematology

Attention, everyone at #SWAT4HCLS in Barcelona, Spain! Our partner, Núria Queralt Rosinach from Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC), will showcase the accepted SYNHTIA abstract as a poster, titled: Assessment of metadata descriptors of AI-ready datasets. To advance the use of Artificial Intelligence, including notably Machine Learning, for the understanding of diseases and conservation of biodiversity, it is important to promote FAIR AI-ready datasets. However, it is not clear how much AI-ready metadata is covered in well-known dataset repositories such as OpenML, Hugging Face or Kaggle. During the BioHackathon Europe 2024, the research team tackled this problem following a programmatic approach and applying Semantic Web technologies. In this scientific publication it is shown the preliminary results on the coverage of the implemented Croissant metadata format and discuss its implications in ML data management and future steps. @SWAT4HCLC is the 16th International Conference on Semantic Web Applications and Tools for Health Care and Life Sciences. #Syntheticdata, artificially generated to mimic real patient data, presents a solution to many of the challenges faced in #health #research today. These data allow researchers to overcome the limitations of access to high-quality, real-world datasets and address growing concerns about patient privacy. Questions have lingered about the quality and applicability of synthetic datasets, especially in diverse and complex scenarios. SYNTHIA will address these challenges head-on by developing validated tools and methods for #syntheticdatageneration (SDG) across various data types, including laboratory results, clinical notes, genomics and imaging.
