GOOD TO KNOW! Can sleeping on your back increase your risk for Alzheimer’s disease (AD)? Yes, sleeping on your back (Supine Sleep) may cause a higher risk of AD! Sleeping on your side is better! The Study recently presently in the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference 2024 https://lnkd.in/e5Z5PsKR Everyone needs 8 hours As with many aspects of human biology, there is no one-size-fits-all approach to sleep. Overall, research?suggests?that for healthy young adults and adults with normal sleep, 7–9 hours is an appropriate amount. The story gets a little more complicated, though. The amount of sleep we need each day varies throughout our lives: newborns need 14–17 hours infants need 12–15 hours toddlers need 11–14 hours preschoolers need 10–13 hours school-aged children need 9–11 hours teenagers need 8–10 hours adults need 7–9 hours older adults need 7–8 hours (Source: Direct copy from the link except the sleeping on the side which is an interpretation)

Team iHealthScreen is excited to share this with you all! iHealthScreen received National Institutes of Health (NIH) SBIR funding of $2.45M for completing the pivotal clinical trial of the AI-based Late Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) prediction model. To the best of our knowledge, this will be the first such clinical trial to automatically identify/predict someone at risk of developing Late AMD (i.e., blindness) in 1 or 2-year. Earlier, the work was featured by NIH Media: https://lnkd.in/e5BK6e8i AMD Picture Source: National Eye Institute (NEI)

"Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the leading cause of death globally. An estimated 17.9 million people died from CVDs in 2019 (almost one-third of all global deaths). Of these deaths, 85% were due to heart attack and stroke (WHO)". 80% of Stroke Cases and a similar number of heart attacks are preventable with screening and managing the risk factors (CDC). iPredict-Stroke and heart attack (myocardial infarction, MI) prediction models can help screening with predicting stroke and MI above 80% accuracy. The results are accepted for presentation at the European Society for Cardiology Congress to be held between August 30th and September 2, 2024, in London, UK.
