Researchers at the Center for Research and Reform in Education at?Johns Hopkins University School of Education?have just released the results of a comprehensive study conducted to evaluate Ignite Reading’s daily 1:1 tutoring program. Here are a few of their key findings: ? Most students began well below benchmark. The percentage of students meeting DIBELS benchmark increased significantly from 16% at the beginning of the school year (BOY) to 50% at the end of the school year (EOY), while the percentage of students requiring intensive intervention dropped from 64% BOY to 28% EOY. ? Tutored students gained an additional 5.4 months of learning as compared to national averages. ? Students across subgroups — historically marginalized groups, English learners, and students with IEPs — achieved similar gains, with only small, non-meaningful differences between them. Ignite Reading's 1:1 online tutoring teaches students the foundational skills they need to become fluent readers.
关于我们
Just 3 in 10 U.S. 4th graders are reading on grade level.* Ignite Reading is on a mission to fix this, ensuring every student can access the tools they need to be a confident, fluent reader by the end of 1st grade. With a team of literacy specialists and highly trained tutors, we provide daily, targeted instruction via 1:1 virtual tutoring. Our evidence-based instruction helps kids quickly closes reading gaps, so they can successfully make the transition from learning to read to reading to learn. Results from an evaluation of Ignite Reading by the Center for Research and Reform in Education at Johns Hopkins University** showed that students reading below grade level who received tutoring achieved significant literacy gains: ? Students at benchmark increased 213% ? ? Students needing intensive intervention decreased 55% ? Notably, researchers found students across subgroups — historically marginalized groups, English learners, and students with IEPs — achieved similar gains, with only small, non-meaningful differences between them. The study concluded "Ignite Reading offers a scalable solution to improving early literacy outcomes in diverse educational settings, with significant implications for addressing equity and literacy gaps." *** "Ignite Reading is one of the most, if not the most, successful interventions we have implemented in our district. The student results and program design are indisputable." - Claudia Salvestrin, Assistant Superintendent, Red Bluff Union Elementary School District, CA *National Assessment of Educational Progress, 2024 **Neitzel, A. At Goose Creek CISD, they say they "grow giants." We're proud to say we're playing a tiny role in helping Goose Creek students make giant leaps in their reading. Thank you to the team at James Bowie Elementary for hosting Brittny Tennessee, Charisse Kenon, Shaneka Palmer M. ED (She/Her), Holly Larson, and a host of other Ignite Reading team members recently. It was a pleasure to see your readers in action! #FutureOfLearning #StudentSuccess #EdLeaders #TX #Texas

We're taking a walk through Science of Reading history this Women's History Month. Are you familiar with the work of Professor Jeanne Chall of the Harvard Graduate School of Education? Not only did Professor Chall help shape some of our most beloved children's TV shows (including Sesame Workshop!), but her Stages of Reading Development help us to better understand the hierarchical nature of reading skills development. You can learn a bit more about her (and other important #ScienceOfReading scientists) right here: https://lnkd.in/emYniJXi #WomensHistoryMonth #Teaching #Education #LiteracyForAll
