Teresa Valais is an accomplished instructional designer, educator, and global change leader specializing in human resource development and cross-cultural learning. With over two decades of experience, Teresa has significantly influenced the fields of online education and professional development, particularly through initiatives that prioritize teacher training, podcasting as a learning model, and intercultural competence. ? During her tenure as Program Manager at the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) from 2009 to 2012, Teresa managed the American English E-Teacher grant program, a U.S. Department of State initiative implemented through UMBC. She spearheaded the design and facilitation of online professional development courses and oversaw the implementation of blended learning programs for elite scholars. These programs equipped participants with cutting-edge teaching methodologies, including the transition from traditional didactic approaches to communicative and student-centered practices. This initiative helped educators worldwide implement sustainable improvements in English language teaching within their countries. ? Teresa’s expertise extends beyond instructional design; she excels in global logistics, program management, and effective communication with diverse stakeholders. By collaborating with embassy personnel and regional English language officers, she ensured the rigorous selection of candidates and the smooth execution of in-person and online learning components. Currently serving with the International Society for Performance Improvement Potomac Chapter and VENTIVIA, Teresa brings her strengths as a professional coach and design expert to advance eLearning and performance improvement strategies. Her recent work includes the development of innovative training tools like the ISPI Performance Innovation Design Studio, the Superpowers Toolkit, and Podcasting for Learning Innovation.. A certified Emergenetics? associate and Intercultural Development Inventory? administrator, Teresa leverages her qualifications to foster inclusive and impactful learning and human resource development experiences.
