It offers a set of databases and tools with tutorials, making digital projects and data widely accessible. ?? Digital Methods School: A program dedicated to investigative research that seeks to go beyond conventional methods by mining unique data, elevating the field of digital humanities to a new conceptual and technological level. These initiatives underscore the Russia Program's commitment to enhancing research quality through digital innovation, providing scholars with the tools and knowledge to effectively analyze complex data in Russian studies. Last Wednesday, I had the pleasure to attend a talk with French Ambassador to the United States Laurent Bili, which was hosted by the Institute for European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies (IERES) at The George Washington University. Ambassador Bili offered his insights of France's assessment of the current geopolitical landscape. The topics covered were: the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine, the broader European Union, great power competition, and the current situation of US-France relations.

Our Transatlantic Program at IERES just held what we hope will be the first of many information sessions on subnational career paths, and eventually grow into "subnational jobs fairs" as the Elliott School of International Affairs turns into an academic leader nationwide on subnational studies. Our students had a chance to hear from the U.S. Department of State's Subnational Diplomacy Unit, the United States Department of Defense's Legislative Affairs office, the office of the State of Maryland's Secretary of State, the Office of the Mayor of New York City's International Affairs team, C40 Cities, the Truman Center for National Policy, and WorldBoston, to learn more about internship & early-career opportunities. Subnational leadership is growing at a pace that comes with many exciting professional opportunities; and this growth also means that international affairs students who are interested in more conventional fields of study and career paths will increasingly be called to work with subnational officials. We at the Elliott School are excited to do our part by rethinking what it means to teach global affairs in the first place. Terrific event earlier today at the Elliott School of International Affairs with French Ambassador to the U.S. Laurent Bili, hosted by our Transatlantic Program at IERES. 200+ of our students got a chance to engage with the Ambassador to discuss France's perspective on the global strategic landscape.
