Can't wait for ASU+GSV!
Getting invited by the ASU+GSV to be on a panel - does that sound surreal? Well, it did to me when I first heard it. But yes, I am going to San Diego in April 2024. The ASU+GSV Summit, happening in San Diego, CA from April 14 to 17, is a collaboration between Arizona State University (ASU) and Global Silicon Valley (GSV), working towards equal access to the future for ALL people through innovations at scale in "Pre-K to Gray" learning and skills. Our panel, titled 'New Dawn for Neurodiversity: EdTech's Transformative Role' (https://lnkd.in/gceQjaBQ) will explore the pivotal role EdTech plays in creating inclusive, accessible learning environments for all students, regardless of their neurocognitive differences. The panelists are: Maureen N. Dunne, Ph.D., Author: The Neurodiversity Edge and Co-founder, Autism Angels Group Kate Eberle Walker, CEO, Presence Coretta Martin, co-founder and CSO at IEP&Me Sambhavi Chandrashekar, PhD, Global Accessibility Lead, D2L Bruce McCandliss, Endowed Chair Professor, Stanford Educational Neuroscience Initiative (SENSI) will be moderating the panel. I will also be checking out the co-located AIR Show - AI Revolution in Education - running from April 13 to 15. Excited about joining so many others from #D2L at ASU+GSV: Stephen Laster, Jeremy Auger, Lee Poteck, Josh Garbe, Michael Beattie, Brendan Desetti, Rajesh Talpade, Jack Pinette, Linda Feng, Kassia Gandhi, Sasha Thackaberry, Ph.D. and Shana Holman. Bridgette Leslie and Forrest Hosten had the incredible pleasure of participating in the TEXAS COUNCIL OF ADMINISTRATORS OF SPECIAL EDUCATION #GreatIdeas Convention this week. What a great time meeting so many wonderful special education administartors and professionals, attending sessions -- our favorite talked about all the *myths* in special education law. ?? We're so excited to continue growing our work throughout the state to make educating special populations more inclusive, collaborative, and interoperable so we can keep educators in the classroom and increase engagement with students and families!

Over the past two years, I've had the privilege of leading the Learning Differences investment strategy at NewSchools. We've invested $3.9M in 20 inspiring early-stage organizations led by a group of diverse caregivers, individuals, and former educators who all have experience navigating the challenges of the special education system and are reimagining a better future for our youth. I'm excited to announce that I've been promoted to Partner. In this new role I'll work with colleagues to deep dive into the research on what works for students with learning differences, especially those impacted by racism and ableism, so NewSchools can continue to deepen their commitment to families and students at the margins. We'll also make a small set of direct investments outside of our core investment areas. More to come! Keep an eye out for more information about the NewSchools' 2024-2026 strategy. In the meantime, make sure you follow these incredible organizations blazing a path towards a more equitable future for our young people. If you are interested in connecting with any of these folks, let me know! I'm happy to set up introductions.
