IEG Innovative Engineering Group, Skanska, Huckabee, and MOREgroup worked together on a winning design for this year's Galveston Sandcastle Festival hosted by AIA Houston! Our theme, "The Sandsational Audrey", was a play on the cult classic movie, Little Shop of Horrors and its Broadway counterpart. It was a day of hard work, creativity, great company, great food, and beautiful skies—and most exciting, a win for the team in our category of Nature/Florals/Botanicals. The annual event challenges architecture, engineering, and construction firms to work collaboratively to design and build spectacular sand sculptures. - #morethanaworkplace #aiahouston #architecture #design #texas

Our structural team was on site last week to see the final phases of a major campus redevelopment. Team site walks like these are a valuable way to give our team members a full perspective on design and construction. We provided our higher ed client with a concrete frame design, including post-tensioned girders for longer spans over strategic locations where columns would be obtrusive to the space below. In other locations, columns set back from the edge of the building with cantilevered framing will give occupants unhindered sightlines out of the building's curtain wall fa?ade and a dramatic effect when viewed from the exterior.
