This week I had the pleasure of attending the Plug and Play Tech Center Semiconductor Selection Day NeoCity, Florida. Neocity is a catalyst for high-tech innovation by connecting creators with investors for the advancement of research, development and commercialization for the benefit of local communities. Florida, under the leadership of Governor DeSantis, has supported the creation of opportunities in Central FL in Osceola County. Today’s event featured startups from Semiconductors, Aerospace/Automotive and Dual-Use Technologies. Topics covered included photonics, Design Acceleration, hardware for drones, MEMS, solid-state batteries, novel antennas, AR/VR and semiconductor processing equipment. As the IEEE-USA President, I was invited to present a keynote on the intersection of policy and technology innovation with emphasis on applcations to aerospace and defense. My message is that we need strong collabotations between academia, industry and government to promote leadership and workforce development in areas of infrastructure, technology, education and funding.
