A question for Fractional (part-time) CMOs / Marketing Consultants: How do you manage your time spent on a client? I’m in my 7th year helping brands on a part-time basis. The hardest thing I still struggle with is time management. Even when we agree on clear deliverables, there’s always and always something extra that comes up during the day. That’s just the nature of the marketing business, and it’s hard to avoid. A mentor once told me to approach it like lawyers do: if there’s additional scope, you have to discuss and negotiate. But that still doesn’t feel right to me. I recently met John Jantsch, one of the first people with decades of experience in this space. I wish I had a guide like him when I started on the fractional CMO path. It would have saved me from many struggles along the way. Thank you John.
