No rider needs to own a horse. It's your future. Take the reins. Grades 4–12.
关于我们
IEA’s mission is to promote lifelong involvement in equestrian athletics. IEA wishes to introduce students in grades 4-8 (Future) and 9-12 (Upper School) to equestrian sports and to develop understanding and appreciation of equestrian sports through organized competitions and educational opportunities. Organized to promote and expand access to quality team and individual equestrian competition and instruction, IEA’s purpose shall be to set standards for competition; to provide information concerning the creation and development of equestrian sport programs; to promote the common interests of safe riding instruction; and to educate on matters related to horsemanship. Students have the opportunity to earn scholarships toward their college education through awards in competition and through sportsmanship activities. The IEA supports three equestrian disciplines: Hunt Seat, Western, and Dressage. There is no need for any rider to own a horse because competition horses are provided at each venue to the contestant. IEA Competition Format The unique aspect of the competitions, both at the local and national level, is that none of the riders will supply their own horses or tack. Instead, the host team arranges for the horses and equipment. Since the horse is new to the rider, the scores are based upon horsemanship and equitation. All disciplines offer a variety of ability levels from beginner through advanced. The IEA has set guidelines for the placement of new riders entering the IEA to allow for the unique program format of riding an unfamiliar horse. A non-profit organization, the IEA has grown both geometrically and geographically each year with over 14,000 members in 46 states across North America.

It’s impossible to reflect on the athletic history of The Andrews School and Andrews Osborne Academy (AOA) without recognizing the impact of their former equestrian program, and one of its greatest leaders, Roxane Durant. Serving as Equestrian Director from 1999-2009, Roxane’s influence on the equestrian industry remains strong both in Ohio and Nationally. During her time at AOA, she co-founded and became the Executive Director of the IEA - Interscholastic Equestrian Association, continuing her remarkable contributions to the sport. With extensive experience in the hunter/jumper industry and show management at prestigious events, including the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and The National Horse Show at Madison Square Garden, Roxane’s legacy is truly remarkable. ??Join the IEA and Andrews Osborne Academy in celebrating her achievements and her induction into the Andrews Osborne Academy Athletic Hall of Fame! #rideiea #equine #equestrian #horsesports #horseriding #horse #horses #jumping #dressage #western #AOAHallOfFame #AlumniWeekend2024

“Good sportsmanship is a tenant in the IEA and this award is held to high regard.?Choosing the National Sportsman from the pool of amazing candidates is always a difficult decision every year,”?commented Roxane Durant, IEA Founder and Executive Director.?“Emma’s impressively long resume of volunteer service, community activities and awards, academic excellence and clear commitment to horse welfare made her a stand-out candidate this year.” The IEA - Interscholastic Equestrian Association annually awards a student rider the National Sportsmanship Award. Proudly sponsored by EQUUS Foundation, Inc., this year's award is presented to Emma Elizabeth Bayer, a Senior from Powder Springs, Georgia who rides on the Big Leaps Equestrian Team. "Horses have helped me realize the importance of emotional intelligence, especially when facing adversity,” says Bayer. “Rather than getting caught up in the highs of excitement or the lows of frustration, horses have taught me to take time to process my emotions, remain humble, remember that everyone has an opinion and that not all opinions hold weight.” Approximately 800 IEA riders were eligible for the 2024 National Sportsmanship Award. CONGRATULATIONS to everyone and thank you for showing consistent outstanding examples of good sportsmanship. We are so proud of you!
