关于我们
IDP Foundation (IDPF) is a private non-profit family foundation focused on innovation, development and progress by supporting local actors deliver sustainable solutions to complex global issues. We work with partners in Ghana and Kenya to deliver market-based solutions focused on improving education in underserved communities. We’re passionate about strengthening the global education system via an all-hands-on-deck approach, giving children in all settings access to quality education. As an international team with a long-standing presence in Ghana, we’re focused on thinking outside-the-box on the issues impacting learning outcomes in low to lower-middle income countries. Our focus is two-fold. Firstly, we actively fund organizations who support low-fee private schools today, while telling the story of their organic nature by empowering the voice of local actors and beneficiaries. Secondly, we focus on championing the mixed economy of education provision – and the contribution of non-state actors – to be recognized and integrated into national education systems. We believe in the power of partnerships to achieve our mission. Our aim is to support sustainable community-built education provision, as part of an affordable non-state sector (ANS) that complements public education systems and is governed within a central framework. We’re guided by the principle that the best way forward is to empower local actors to create change. Our core values are: T Building capability beyond aid is the most effective answer T Designing market-based solutions for the underprivileged supports economic development T Working in partnership and empowering local communities is key to sustainability T Advocating for effective alliances harnesses the power of the collective T Being prepared to embrace risks leads to more inclusive results T Acting as a catalyst leverages further funding Our global team are located in the US, Ghana and the UK.

Our Head of Edufinance and Quality Raphael Akomeah recently joined the International Education Funders Group (IEFG) Future Leaders in Education Philanthropy program.
?? Earlier this month, we had the privilege of hosting the first in-person retreat of our Future Leaders in Education Philanthropy (FLiEP) programme in vibrant Nairobi, Kenya. The programme aims to give staff at member foundations a better understanding of education philanthropy, newly developed leadership skills, a greatly expanded professional network, and insights from cutting-edge research and global experts. We couldn't be more excited about the dynamic group of emerging leaders we got into the room, with whom we reflected on the role of philanthropy in systems change, explored our personal values and principles, and uncovered ways to approach power and influence with intention. Through interactive sessions, we unpacked unique challenges and opportunities that leaders in education philanthropy face today and learned about conscious site visits (because rolling up in 4x4s and taking pictures of children so you can post them on here is REALLY not what you should do). Thank you to Sara Ruto and Benjamin Piper for sharing their knowledge with the group and thank you to the members of the IEFG Steering Committee, Carolyne Ng'eny, Simon Sommer, Raman Sidhu, Casper Thaning Thulstrup, Bundie Kabanze ??International Development Professional, José Emilio López, Natalie Easton, Raymond Chipfakacha, PhD. for supporting the conversations and the programme. This retreat was just the beginning of a nine-month professional development opportunity for members who really want to work with others to shape a brighter future for education philanthropy. #Philanthropy #EducationPhilanthropy #LeadershipDevelopment #FutureLeaders #IEFGTogether #FLiEP

In 2022 IDP Foundation launched the IDPF Ongoza Schools Program in partnerships Premier Credit Kenya and Dignitas to improve the safety and quality of low-fee private schools in Kenya. This year we are building on this momentum with co-funding from The Waterloo Foundation and Michael & Susan Dell Foundation and adding the Global Schools Forum, Jackfruit Finance, and ID Insights (Insights? voor de bouwsector) to the team to reward improvements in literacy and numeracy through incentive-linked loans. Find out more about the Incentives for Learning (IfL) program here ?? https://heyor.ca/vaq5l5 We want to see governments take their duty to ensure access to quality education for all children seriously, but while they are struggling to meet demand it is important we come together to improve the access and quality of All Education for All Children, Now.
