关于我们

ID+ is a Research Consortium is Design, Media and Culture, founded in 2008. It gathers critical mass from four Universities in Northern Portugal. The Research Institute for Design, Media and Culture [ID+] is a multidisciplinary research structure originally anchored in two institutions: University of Aveiro (Department of Communication and Art) [UA /DeCA] and University of Porto (School of Fine Arts) [FBAUP]; in 2017, the Polytechnic of Cávado and Ave (School of Design) [IPCA / ESD] has joined the consortium, as did the Polytechnic of Porto (School of Media Arts and Design) [IPP / ESMAD] in 2023. ID+ works towards the inscription and legitimisation of design and associated disciplines in the Arts and Sciences. It develops this mission primarily in the Northern region of Portugal and other peripheral environments, as well as national and international cooperation networks. ID+ operates contextually by producing, transferring, reverting and communicating the scientific and professional knowledge of design, media and culture into environments where it may be of benefit. ID+ focuses on both heritage and contemporaneity: contributing to a longevity of design legacies, and interpreting the rapid challenges of the discipline in today's World. These contributions are strategic, taxonomical, technical, cognitive, structural and pedagogical. ID+ is currently organised in five strategic groups: CULTURES DESIGN FOR HEALTH INDUSTRIES MEDIA TERRITORIES AND COMMUNITIES

?????????????????????? ?????? ?????? ???? ?????? ???????????????? ?????? ????????????????????! ????? A huge shoutout to our DCs who actively participated in the Dementia Lab Conference last week! It was inspiring to see them deliver such engaging sessions, sparking meaningful discussions around #dementiaresearch and #design. A special mention to the incredible mentors and supervisors of HOMEDEM, who contributed their expertise as part of the panel and discussions, shaping the conversation on #inclusive and #innovativedementiacare. Rising Lai presented a paper that research on how #artefacts enact and participate in the facilitation of daily activity in a #dementia #carehome. The research also proposed a #template to help the #caregiver to plan meaningful activity with familiar artefacts for the people with dementia. Alicia Valencia and Natsumi Wada presented thier evolving #toolkit for examining small worlds within the #homes of people with dementia. Both of them are interested in learning more about #sensesofhome, and plan on doing so with #cultural probes and #cocreative methods. They both will be using the tools in the kit to aid in #interviews and creative generation of ideas with people with dementia in their homes. #Outcomes of this research will inform design directions for #interventions that enhance sense of home and inspire #autonomy and initiative through #playfulness. It’s always amazing to see our researchers making an impact in the field. Looking forward to more insightful exchanges in the future! Last week, almost our entire Caring. and design research team attended the 7th Dementia Lab Conference in Aveiro. ?? Lieke Lenaerts presented her paper "From Handover to Participation: How Do Handover Approaches Support Participatory Design Together with People with Dementia?" She also shared insights on setting up a living lab on dementia post-COVID and addressing high staff turnover in healthcare. ?? Rising Lai gave the audience a glimpse into HOMEDEM.EU-related research on collaborative decision-making for people living with dementia in her paper "Artefacts in Action: Facilitating Positive Person Work in Dementia Group Living Environments". Together with Sara Laureen Bartels Rising also organized a workshop where participants untangled concepts such as autonomy, dignity, and personhood. ?? Amber De Coen showcased the BLINK toolkit designed to support person-centered care for people with dementia and individuals with profound intellectual and multiple disabilities. Learn more at www.blinkproject.be. Amber is also one of the editors of the conference proceedings which will be published (open access - so accessible to all!) soonish! ?? Britt Pellens co-hosted the PhD-day set up as a pre-conference inviting novice researchers to share, reflect and connect on their work in design and dementia.

On the final day of the Dementia Lab Conference 2025, Matthew Harrison delivered an inspiring talk on the power of human-centred design in dementia care technology. He emphasised the importance of involving people with dementia, caregivers, and healthcare professionals in the design process to ensure truly effective solutions. Drawing from his work at the UK Dementia Research Institute, he showcased how smart-home technologies can enhance quality of life. Thank you to Matthew for sharing such valuable insights and reminding us that innovation must be inclusive to make a real impact. Immersed in fantastic discussions at the 7th Dementia Lab Conference at the University of Aveiro! Yesterday’s pre-conference sparked deep debates on design and aesthetics, focusing on the outcomes of the DECOHDE project. We also had the second workshop of the DIGIT network, where its four working groups explored the intersection of digital technology and dementia. Today, we’re diving into ethics and aesthetics through a mix of workshops, lectures, storytelling, and an exhibition—an inspiring blend of perspectives and ideas. Attending the Dementia Lab Conference always energizes me. I love reconnecting with old and new friends and colleagues, but most of all, I’m inspired by the many ways people are working alongside those with dementia.
