If you're coming to #CIES2025 in Chicago next week, please come check us out at the following sessions, featuring great work and insights from our collaborators at Educate Girls and Children's Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF)! ? How Can Education Leaders Leverage Big Data and AI When Scaling? ?? Wednesday, March 26 @ 9:45-11:00 am ?? Palmer House, Floor: 7th Floor, LaSalle 4 ? Our panel will explore how data science and AI can enhance the scale and effectiveness of education interventions, drawing on a 10-year (!) collaboration between Educate Girls, Children’s Investment Fund Foundation, and IDinsight. This will include a discussion of how Educate Girls has used machine learning to guide their scaling strategy, enabling the organization to reach 600,000 more out-of-school girls at the same cost. (The image below shows an example of how Educate Girls used district-level and village-level predictions to identify 'hotspots' with large numbers of out-of-school girls). ? The Impact of Literacy on Learners’ Development and Participation ?? Wednesday, March 26 @ 2:45-4:00 pm ?? Palmer House, Floor: 7th Floor, Clark 5 ? Among other individual paper presentations, I'll be presenting our exciting work with Educate Girls, "Scaling up remedial education in India: Evidence from two RCTs of the same program at different scales". Spoiler alert: Our study documents one of the few examples of a program avoiding the 'voltage drop' that so often happens when a program scales.

#FromDataToPolicy | IDinsight and EDCOM 2's research informs major education reform in the Philippines ?????? We're thrilled to share that the Philippines Department of Education (DepEd) is cutting teachers' administrative paperwork by 57%, informed by insights from IDinsight's collaborative research with the Second Congressional Commission on Education (EDCOM 2). Our joint nationwide study, surveying 2,000+ schools and 15,000+ teachers, revealed: ?? Teachers work 52 hours/week on average (vs. mandated 40) ?? 42% of teachers work more than 50 hours/week ?? Teachers spend 18 hours/week on ancillary (learning related, but non-teaching) tasks alone This reduction in workload will allow teachers to focus on what matters most: quality instruction and student engagement. We are proud to see our partnership with EDCOM 2 contributing to meaningful education policy reforms in the Philippines! Shout out to our teammates, who made it possible: Steven Walker, Douglas Johnson, Akshita Sharma, Miguel Paje, Mia Jeong, and Andrea (Aya) Silva ??
