As I travel and explore the architecture of civilizations past, one common thread unites… not one culture has worked so hard AGAINST nature as our own, modern civilization continues to do. On the walk up to the Alhambra in Granada, for example, they built around the natural flow of water, incorporating and anticipating rather than forcing the flow in an unnatural direction. Centuries later we are still able to enjoy the beauty of this design, and the ingenuity of the intention. I’m often left with the thought, “what are we even doing,” when I think about the way we build today. If you feel the same, or you’d like to hear more on topics in sustainable design, I’d love for you to take advantage of my free monthly newsletter.?? Wonderful insights and takeaways from a founding member of IDgreenList. What do you think of these takeaways???
Founder | Interior Designer | Remodels & New Builds | Expert in Family-Friendly, High-End Designs | The Masterplan Approach to Seamless Home Design ?? Sacramento, CA area
At KBIS this year, it was clear—design is moving toward a more organic, nature-inspired, and sustainable approach. This shift isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s about how we create homes that feel welcoming, functional, and built to last. As an interior designer specializing in family-focused remodels and new builds, these trends align with my Masterplan approach—ensuring that every design choice is intentional, balancing beauty, sustainability, and functionality. ?? Key Takeaways from KBIS: ?? Softer, curved forms – bringing warmth and movement into spaces ?? Earth-inspired color palettes – deep browns, natural greens, and warm neutrals ?? Sustainable materials & finishes – incorporating long-lasting, eco-conscious elements into luxury design Homeowners are looking for more than just beautiful spaces—they want homes that support their lifestyle, enhance their well-being, and feel like a true retreat. Are you seeing this shift in your industry as well? Let’s connect! #SustainableLuxury #MasterplanDesign #KBIS2025 #OrganicLiving #HartyInteriors

For ASID, IIDA, & IDC accredited professionals. ?? (Note: NKBA converts our credit system to theirs too!) As an interior design business owner myself, I know how important it is that you spend your time efficiently. That’s why I took the extra time to ensure that each of our 7 lessons in our full course was approved for IDCEC credit. Not only that, it’s in the HSW category too!?? Would it have been easier to skip this step and just record the lessons? Heck yeah- but what would be the point? I need credits just like you, so this was worth the EXTRA 9 MONTHS and the financial investment it took me to create this platform for you. ?? IDCEC approval means my facts have been checked, my curriculum has been reviewed, and you can rest assured that your time spent will have been worth it! You’ll increase your capacity to reach a new level of clients and grow your business. If you want to learn more, I’ve got a free CEU coming up on March 20: register while there is still space! https://bit.ly/4ekB4Nf #interiordesigner #interiordesignbusiness #interiordesigncommunity #sustainableinteriordesign
