Student adoption of ChatGPT varies significantly by state, as per OpenAI user data. California, Virginia, New Jersey, and New York lead the nation in adoption rates among 18-24-year-olds, followed by Arizona, Washington, and Utah. Conversely, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, and West Virginia show lower adoption rates in the same age group. Looking ahead, institutional support for AI integration is expected to have a positive impact. States like Utah and New York are at the forefront, setting examples for others. Utah is actively incorporating AI into higher education, aiming to better equip students for the job market. Salt Lake Community College is integrating AI experiences into different industry pathways, enhancing students' familiarity with AI before employment. Furthermore, the University of Utah's $100 million AI research initiative, launched in October 2023, addresses societal challenges using AI in areas like the environment, healthcare, and education. Utah Valley University has introduced a graduate certificate in AI and a new applied AI apprenticeship program in collaboration with local companies. #AIAdoption #Students #AIinEducation #Utah #ChatGPT #HigherEducation #StudentAdoption #TechAdoption #ArtificialIntelligence #UtahEducation #AIResearch #FutureOfWork #IndustryPathways #TechnologyInEducation https://lnkd.in/g2GpkZ7g

How Much Does it Cost to Build an Online Course? Costs Vary Wildly ??: - Georgia Tech OMSCS: Initial courses were around $300,000, now averaging $100,000 to $200,000 due to scale and reuse. - University of Florida: Average course development costs at launch were just over $50,000. - Community Colleges: Per-credit-hour costs range from $12 to $53 (Minnesota State Higher Education System). - Ivy Tech Community College, Indiana: Reported at $58 per credit hour. ?? Key Cost Drivers: - Production Quality: Choices between high production values with extensive video content or basic presentations significantly affect costs. - Course Longevity: Design for long-term reuse can amortize costs over many student enrollments. Faculty Stipends ??: - Community colleges often include no additional compensation, while universities might offer between $1,000 and $7,100 per course, depending on complexity and credit hours. Maintenance Matters ??: - University of Florida estimates $7,500 annual maintenance per course. - Western Governors University suggests an additional 20-35 cents per dollar spent on development each year for the next three years. The Comparison Conundrum ??: - Direct comparisons between online and on-campus courses are misleading due to different cost structures and the lack of clear on-campus cost data. #InstructionalDesign #EdTech #OnlineEducation #HigherEducation #CourseDevelopment #EducationalTechnology https://lnkd.in/g4Y3F8JQ
