I recently completed IDEO U's Human-Centered Systems Thinking?course that deeply transformed my view of creating impact in organizations. Rather than rigid structures, I now see them as fluid systems shaped by real outcomes. Through hands-on mapping, diverse viewpoints and methods, I gained both theoretical knowledge and practical tools for meaningful change. A key insight was that formal authority isn’t essential for steering a company’s direction. By having a human-centered approach and blending strategic vision with on-the-ground actions, we can introduce improvements that feel welcomed rather than disruptive. I now better appreciate the interplay of people, processes, and technology. The course’s collaborative environment, open dialogue and genuine passion for systems thinking, showed how every organization can benefit from this approach. I’m grateful to my?instructors Biliana Vassileva and Eva Hoffmann , and my colleagues Carmen Rodriguez and Elina Laitinen, who broadened my outlook. Overall, this experience has changed my understanding of project, process, and change management, and I’m eager to apply Systems Thinking to drive sustainable change.

I’ve just completed the AI x Design Thinking Workshop Series with IDEO! This course reinforced how AI can accelerate ideation and help design solutions that truly make an impact. By combining human-centred design with AI-driven insights, I can now generate ideas faster, prototype smarter, and craft solutions that are not just innovative—but meaningful. Delighted to say I've completed a 5 week course in "Insights for Innovation" through IDEO U. I've been using IDEO's tools for years now but this is the first time I've studied with them and it was such an interesting course!! This course was very hands-on. I worked on a project around inspiring communities to adopt sustainable practices, eventually focusing on the journey of acquiring and passing on used furniture. I was tasked with gathering data through observation, interviews and empathy experiments and then synthesising the research into motivational and inspiring insights. It totally changed my understanding of what an "insight" is and should be used for... Key takeaways for me: ??While observing, look for adaptations which people have made in order to achieve something (this reveals an unmet need) ?? Allowing for "pregnant pauses" while interviewing to encourage your interviewee to fill the silence. ?? Empathy experiments are truly the best way of getting into the shoes of your end user, and give you an understanding on a whole different level than interviewing allows for! ?? Insights should be authentic, non-obvious and revealing ie. "News you can use" I honestly loved the opportunity to be a student again (and a teacher... peer-reviewing each other's assignments was a big part of this course) and can't wait to start using my new skills!

?? The future of innovation is hybrid I’m excited to combine my expertise in Design Thinking with AI. Thank you IDEO U team Donna Teuber and David Kolb for these very participatory sessions, where I have been able to practice AI tools in all phases of Design Thinking with professionals from all over the world. What a great variety of perspective and how enriching! It provides me a framework for using AI ethically to support human-centered solutions while preserving the irreplaceable value of human creativity, empathy, and intuition.
