?? #EMPLOYEESPOTLIGHT | Meet Wendy Viana, User Interface Design Engineer III. Wendy was instrumental in reviving the IDEMIA-funded Project Management Professional Program through her leadership on the LIFE ERG Committee. She developed a compelling pitch deck, aligned resources, and navigated the approval process, securing the leadership team's buy-in. Thanks to her efforts, our first cohort of 25 participants is now underway, advancing project management capabilities across our teams. Read below to learn more about Wendy! What do you like most about the culture at IDEMIA? How supportive we are of each other! My coworkers have always felt like a close-knit team ready to encourage and help each other out when needed. I have also had wonderful team leads who have supported my personal development into new roles and responsibilities within the company. Our employees really care about our products and the work that we do, so it's enjoyable to partner with other teams who are so supportive of our product design initiatives on how to make things even better. What does your daily routine look like? On the days I go to the Reston office, I start my mornings with a trip to the coffee shop downstairs and watering my neglected desk plant. I otherwise work mostly from home with my Frenchie puppy and my days are split between working on UI design for new upcoming products and meetings with product owners, SMEs, or developers. I actively work on 2-4 different products at a time and try to split my week with different days dedicated to different teams. I love being a product designer and if it weren't for meetings helping me take a break, I could spend all day on Figma (UI software design tool) creating mockups for new product features, redesigns, or new upcoming software. Which work benefit or perk is your favorite and why? Not sure if it counts, but I really like the connections I have made through our Employee Resource Groups! I am an active committee member for our LIFE ERG and enjoy being able to work on company-wide initiatives that will benefit our early career professionals looking to grow. This past year, we established the PMP education program and after months of working on its launch, it is great to see so many of our coworkers obtain their certifications to continuously grow and improve professionally. What is the most significant/recent project you’ve handled? The latest significant project I have led is the redesign of our Universal Enrollment Program product suite, which includes public web, desktop and mobile pre-enrollment, in-person biometric enrollment and fingerprint capture, a customer account portal, and an admin configuration portal. Although this is just the start for how the product evolves, we are hoping that the updated workflows make things easier for our customers and agents. Looking for a new role? Join the IDEMIA team! His years of knowledge are invaluable when it comes to solving issues or coming up with new procedures. He is always looking out for what is best for his employees as well. Read below to learn more about Andy! Where are you based out of and how long have you been with IDEMIA? I am out of the Eden Prairie Office. 21 Years, I was part of Identix, L1, Morpho Trust, and now IDEMIA. What do you enjoy most about working at IDEMIA? The people for sure, I truly enjoy the day-to-day interactions with the EP teams and countless other teams across the US that I get a chance to work with. I truly enjoy the friendships that I have made and good times we have with our daily interactions or occasionally when I can visit those other locations and collaborate face to face. What does your day-to-day look like? It is something new every day. I start my day by walking the floor and checking in on the groups, seeing what they need, or informing them of upcoming projects. Since we support almost all of the hardware for the different product lines there is always a big project that one, or lately, all teams are working on. That is usually followed by meetings with the off-site teams we support and addressing the status of projects or challenges. The latter part of the day is making sure that orders that need attention are getting out the door and making sure we can address any last-minute service needs before the trucks come to pick up products. Lastly it is doing a check-up with the teams to see if anything is needed for the following day to keep the teams on task. How do you handle setbacks or failures in your work? There are days where it seems that everything goes wrong at the same time, but I know that the team here has the knowledge and skill to overcome the challenges. Not every project will be successful, and you cannot be 100% perfect every day. We all make mistakes, some big, some small, it is understanding that these are teaching and growing moments.
