What a spectacular evening with the one and only Rick Steves! ????? Last Wednesday, Ideastream Public Media hosted Rick Steves for a special lecture at Playhouse Square in Cleveland. Rick shared lessons from his travels across Europe, Central America, Asia, and the Middle East, illustrating how Americans return home with the greatest souvenir of all: a broader perspective. Congratulations to this year’s “Illuminating the World Around Us Awards” honorees: Robert “Bob” Reitman and Larry Pollock. This award recognizes former Trustees for their time and dedication to the board and, more importantly, for their outstanding service to Northeast Ohio that extends well beyond their board tenures. ?? Bob has a remarkable legacy of empowering Northeast Ohio and unwaveringly giving back.?He began as Chairman Emeritus of WVIZ/PBS, a position he continued to hold after the station merged with 90.3 WCPN in July 2001 to form Ideastream. His role as Chairman Emeritus of Ideastream reflects a profound dedication to advancing the region’s prosperity. Alayne Reitman accepted the award on Bob's behalf. ?? Larry has been an integral part of Ideastream’s history. He was one of the original board members for Radio Seaway, the 501(c)(3) that held the license for WCLV until the acquisition was finalized.?In addition, Larry was the critical link in launching the initial conversations between WKSU and Ideastream. We celebrate and express our most sincere gratitude for Bob and Larry's steadfast dedication to the community, creating a legacy that fortifies Ideastream and prepares it for a vibrant future.
