Dan Dumbacher, executive director of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), recently acknowledged IDEA executive director Chris Crumbly in a "From Dan's Desk" update to AIAA members. "More than 150 Congressional staff members, AIAA members, representatives from AIAA Corporate Member companies, and friends of the Institute joined us for our annual Aerospace Policy Connection (APC) reception recently on Capitol Hill. We enjoyed hearing from our Public Policy Committee (PPC) Chair Chris Crumbly on the evening before he and other AIAA PPC members visited with members of Congress in their offices to share insights into the three AIAA domains – Aeronautics, Aerospace R&D, and Space."

Dan Hicks from Victory Solutions recently taught a model-based systems engineering professional education course to a diverse group of professionals at Trideum Corporation in Huntsville, Alabama. The curriculum was developed by the Institute for Digital Enterprise Advancement and progresses through 30+ MBSE exercises over 40 contact hours. Trideum hosted a certificate ceremony to recognize the accomplishments of each student who completed the course and brief leadership on the positive impacts that have been seen from increasing MBSE knowledge and skills.

IDEA had a wonderful time attending and exhibiting at the 2024 Digital Engineering and MBSE Symposium, presented by Huntsville HRC USA INCOSE and National Defense Industrial Association - (NDIA) TVC in Huntsville, AL. Chris Crumbly, IDEA executive director, moderated a panel about the SysML v2 transition with panelists Saulius Pavalkis (Dassault Systèmes), Gene Shreve (Integration Innovation, Inc.), and Brian L. Brown, MBA (Ansys). The insight and direction they brought to this conversation are greatly appreciated. It was exciting to learn more about advancements in MBSE and digital engineering happening locally, and we've come away with many productive conversations that will surely lead to collaborations. Awesome event!

The 2024 Calhoun Community College Foundation Scholarship Breakfast was held April 19th in Decatur recognizing scholarship donors and recipients. David Alan Smith, Foundation Board member, and Dan Hicks attended the breakfast where 283 scholarships totaling over $500,000 were awarded.
