    On the heels of Climate Week, we are excited to share the findings of our deep dive into the world of ESG and Sustainability reporting.? At the end of 2024, “ESG” has become a polarizing acronym. We have witnessed an uptick in anti-ESG shareholder resolutions and legislative proposals. However, support for these proposals is declining, activism is rising, and reporting requirements are evolving — the future is far from certain. ?? 97% of the Fortune 200 produced a 2023 Sustainability/ESG report. And once again, we conducted an analysis of this dynamic environment to identify the major trends in what companies are communicating and how they’re doing it. With ESG's branding issues, and the continued lack of shared language, this is no easy task — our goal? Make sense of where we are today.?     For our fourth collaboration with Carrier, IOP worked in parallel with their re-branding process. Working with the Carrier team, and their brand partner, PHG, in a flexible and collaborative manner, IOP designed the report “Global Leader in Intelligent Climate and Energy Solutions”. The report was published nearly simultaneously with the launch of the new brand and used the refreshed and accessible colors, fonts, and design guidelines.? By highlighting simple data visualizations and “real moments” photography, IOP designed an engaging, visually impactful report with clear, digestible data and infographics.     This summer, I had the privilege to intern at Ideas On Purpose as a Sustainability Communications Intern. My role was to do a deep dive research project into the Sustainability reporting trends that we see amongst the top 200 companies in the Fortune 500 list. This project is a great snapshot of what the Sustainability reporting landscape is like today, as well as how dynamic it is as a result of external factors such as legislation, frameworks standardization, and customer response. I really look forward to sharing the results of my research in the upcoming weeks. A big thank you to Michelle M. Marks for guiding me through the research, and for providing her immense knowledge in Sustainability reporting. Thank you to the rest of the IOP team for creating an amazing work atmosphere that I really enjoyed being a part of. I am extremely grateful for this opportunity, which has greatly enhanced my knowledge in the realm of Sustainability reporting.
