??The road to building a business is hard, but it's worth it. I had an amazing conversation with Kris Mathis, award-winning entrepreneur and business coach, on the Ideas & Impact podcast. We dove deep into the secrets of attracting new customers and navigating the often-tough journey of business growth. Here are some key insights from our chat: ?? Understand the Customer Journey Every customer is on two journeys—an external one (what they want) and an internal one (how they feel). Businesses need to communicate empathy and present themselves as the guide that leads customers from their problems to the solutions you offer. ?? Business Growth Requires Sacrifice Success doesn’t come easy. Kris talked about how the hardest times often come when you’re on the brink of breakthrough. It’s about making hard choices and sacrifices for a season, knowing it will pay off in the long run. ?? Invest in the Next Generation As you grow, it’s important to give back. Kris shares how he’s committed to supporting women entrepreneurs through his program, Let's Help Her Win, and how mentorship and investments help shape the future of business. ?? 3 Quotes to Remember: "Life stands for Living in Fear of Excelling. When you choose a greater life, life will test your commitment. Stick with it; the reward is worth the challenge." "Customers care more about their problems than your solutions. Understand their pain and show them how you can solve it." "If you’re not willing to sacrifice for your dreams, you’re not ready to succeed. But remember, sacrifices are temporary—they lead to long-term rewards." ?? Want to grow your business and attract the right customers? Listen to Kris’ advice on how to get clear on your customer’s journey and make decisions that will change your business forever. Check out the full interview in the first comment! ?? What’s been your biggest lesson in entrepreneurship? Let's discuss in the comments

?? Results and retention are just symptoms—culture is the cause. Last week on Ideas and Impact, I sat down with Sean Glaze, a leadership expert and team culture consultant, to talk about what really makes a workplace thrive. ?? One key takeaway? Most teams don’t fail because of bad strategy or lack of talent—they fail because of culture. And culture isn’t just perks and policies. It’s the behaviors that are allowed, repeated, and reinforced. Sean helps leaders transform their teams by focusing on three major insights: ? Define culture clearly. It’s not enough to have values written on a wall. You need to translate them into behaviors that everyone understands and follows. ? Leadership drives culture. People don’t leave jobs—they leave bad leadership. A strong leader creates an environment where people want to stay and contribute. ? Awareness beats experience. Just because someone has been leading for years doesn’t mean they’ve grown. True leadership comes from reflection, feedback, and continuous learning. ?? My favorite moment? Sean’s realization that his first year as a basketball coach was a failure—not because of poor strategy, but because he underestimated the power of team culture. That lesson now drives his work with organizations everywhere. ?? If you’re leading a team, ask yourself: What behaviors am I allowing and reinforcing? Because that is your culture. What’s one thing you’ve seen great leaders do to build a strong team culture? Let’s talk in the comments! ?? Oh, and if you want to hear the full interview, check the first comment. ???
