The 2024 NetHope Global Summit was a powerful reminder of technology’s transformative role in the nonprofit sector. Since 2009, City Teaching Alliance has been dedicated to preparing culturally responsive educators and addressing inequities in urban education. The City Alliance team ended up facing challenges with an outdated and unreliable online portal. The platform failed to facilitate effective communication, causing confusion and inefficiencies for both teachers and staff. To solve this issue, we worked with City Alliance to launch the Compass portal — a mobile-friendly, centralized system that streamlined teacher task tracking, resource management, and program requirements. The results were transformative. This Compass portal has not only improved internal processes (enhanced visibility, improved task management, etc.) but also empowered City Teaching Alliance to continue driving its mission of equity and excellence in education.
