This crucial infrastructure improvement enhances mobility and supports growth in Wharton, TX. ?? Transforming Austin's I-35: Enhancing Connectivity and Safety ?? The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is advancing the I-35 Capital Express Central Project with a significant $630 million investment to revitalize the Lady Bird Lake segment. This phase aims to improve mobility and safety through several key enhancements: ? High-Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) Lanes: Adding two non-tolled HOV lanes in each direction between Holly Street and SH 71/Ben White Boulevard to alleviate congestion. ? Lady Bird Lake Bridge Reconstruction: Rebuilding the bridge to include a single-point urban interchange at Riverside Drive, accommodating future Capital Metro light rail routes. ? Enhanced Pedestrian and Cyclist Infrastructure: Constructing a pedestrian-only bridge at Woodland Avenue and improving bicycle and pedestrian pathways along the corridor.
