Enhancing quality of life through transportation
关于我们
The state transportation system is inextricably woven into the fabric of Idaho life. The state's citizens use Idaho's transportation system to get to work, school, friends and recreation. They also rely on that system to bring goods to their stores, services to their doorstep, and to make sure the state's goods and services are delivered to the customers of the nation and the world. From the food they eat, to the letters they read, to the movies they drive to, Idahoans are empowered by transportation in complex and substantial ways. The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) has many opportunities for work variety and specialization. There are many careers to pursue at ITD including Engineering, Finance and Accounting, Human Resources, and more. Working for ITD includes a competitive benefits package as well as an excellent work life balance with options such as flex time. Working with ITD can be a lifetime career choice with the opportunity for growth and advancement. Contact an ITD Recruiter at: [email protected] or call 208-334-8664 .

We’re always looking for ways to make our budget go further while keeping Idaho’s roads safe. This winter, our East Idaho foremen tested a new plow blade—and the results are impressive! It’s lasting 16 TIMES longer than our previous blades, saving $200,000 in replacement costs for next year. A huge THANK YOU to our innovative team for finding smarter solutions that keep Idaho moving while saving taxpayer dollars!

This St. Patrick’s Day, we’re celebrating with a little magic from Mother Nature—rainbows spotted by our employees across Idaho! Rainbows are a good reminder that Idaho weather can change fast! Sunshine can quickly turn to rain, and wet roads mean slower stopping times. Stay alert, drive safe, and enjoy the view!

Work isn't too bad when you have views like this ?? Our Hailey/Stanley crew tackled deep snow on Galena Summit using a rotary snow blower. When snowdrifts get too high for regular plows, the rotary comes in—cutting through hard-packed snow and throwing it far out of the way. This stunning shot, captured by Rylee, won our internal photo contest for February!

Boise resident Robert Kerns knew he wanted to segue his career to working in the construction industry. It was just a matter of how. And the ICONIC program with the Idaho Transportation Department helped him get there. https://ow.ly/7jkJ50VgSEB

Winter may be winding down, but the 580 Crew out of Soda Springs knows it’s not over yet! High winds and ever-changing conditions make their job challenging—and dangerous. Every time they hit the road, they’re out there for your safety. Help them stay safe, too: slow down, drive for conditions, and give them the space they need to do their job.

Imagine this: You're driving through a busy construction zone on I-90 when suddenly — thump, thump — a flat tire. With limited shoulder space and cars speeding by, you’re stuck. That’s where ITD’s new Incident Response Vehicle (IRV) comes in. This dedicated truck will patrol key corridors in North Idaho, ready to assist with flat tires, dead batteries, empty fuel tanks, and more. With tools, lights, and signs on board, the IRV is designed to get you back on the road quickly and safely, helping reduce delays and keeping everyone moving. Operating Tuesday - Friday, 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., this new service is all about improving safety — for you, for our crews, and for first responders. So if you see the IRV out there, please remember to slow down and move over!
