Eleven of our SPARK a FIRE scholars just got back from spending three days on a fully-funded trip to the 2024 S-STEM Scholars and PI Meeting in Chicago! While in the Windy City, the group had a chance to network with potential employers and graduate degree programs, attend workshops, and more. Two students, Yuridia Vega Gonzalez and Juliette Rollins, were also selected to present their research at the conference. They also did a bit of sightseeing and even had a chance to get some Chicago-style deep-dish pizza. The SPARK a FIRE program is open to academically talented students who transfer to ISU and major in biology, microbiology, biochemistry, or chemistry. Eligible scholars receive a scholarship award of up to $10,000 as well as access to resources specific to the transfer student experience. Applications for the Fall 2025 cohort open February 1, and for more info, visit https://lnkd.in/gK5mZTSp. The SPARK a FIRE program is funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) (DUE 2220844). #IdahoStateU #IdahoStateUCoSE #ISUBengals #IdahoState #Idaho #STEM? #transferstudents #biology #microbiology #biochemistry #chemistry Anna Grinath Cori Jenkins
