In honor of Presidents' Day, IFG wants to share the words of the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership that honor the important work of former President Theodore Roosevelt and to highlight our shared dedication to conservation. Responsible forest management strategies protect habitats by maintaining healthy, resilient forests that are less prone to catastrophic wildfires. By thinning overgrown areas and removing excess fuel, we support stronger, more fire-resistant landscapes for future generations. Strong forests equate to strong communities. ???? #ConservationForestry #ResponsibleForestry
In 1912, Theodore Roosevelt said, “There can be no greater issue than that of conservation in this country.” While in the political arena, he succeeded in making conservation a top-tier national issue. T.R. had the foresight to address these issues still so significant to hunters and anglers today, understanding that if we want to safeguard critical habitat, productive hunting grounds, and favorite fishing holes for future generations, we must plan carefully today. #PresidentsDay The United States has the greatest conservation system in the world, and hunters and anglers have been the foundation of this system since the late 1800s. Today, by uniting and amplifying the voices of America’s sportsmen and sportswomen in federal law and policy, the TRCP is ensuring that this legacy continues for another 150 years.

Exciting news out of Senator Risch’s office! U.S. Senator Jim Risch (R-Idaho), and several bipartisan leaders introduced the ???????????? ?????????????? ?????????????? ?????? to support America’s family-run timber industry. This bill aims to amend the ???????? ?????????? ?????????????????? ?????? to allow 16 and 17-year-olds from logging families to gain hands-on experience in mechanized logging under parental supervision to?ensure the continuation of family-run timber businesses, address labor shortages, and align forestry with existing exemptions for family farms. “The timber industry is traditionally a multi-generational business where the skills and knowledge are passed on from one generation to the next. This succession process is critical to ensuring that the timber industry infrastructure remains viable to support public and private healthy forest management, rural jobs, wildfire mitigation, and U.S. made forest products,” -Scott Dane, Executive Director of the American Loggers Council. ???????? ?????? ???????? ?????????? ?????????????? ????????: https://lnkd.in/gY7SaZEv

It is with great pride that we announce that IFG Chief of Staff and Vice President of Resources & Government Affairs, ?????? ??????????????, ?????? ???????????????? ?????? ???????????????? ???? ?????????? ???? ?????????? ?????? ?????????????? ?????????????????? ?????? ?????????????????????? ???????? ?????? ???????????? ???????????? ???????????????????? ???? ?????????????????????? (????????). This federally appointed position is a great honor and testament to Tom’s distinguished career. Tom has worked hard to bring understanding and certainty to the raw material supply for our company. He has elevated the respect for and appreciation of IFG through hard work, strong relationship building at the state and federal levels, and consistent execution. As a valued member of the Executive Team, he regularly communicated the status of our raw material supply and procurement strategies, which contributed to our profitability by driving down log costs during these times of extreme inflationary pressures. He has grown and learned much from his experiences at IFG, while offering the company and our employees much in return. A former Officer in the United States Air Force, Tom has worked for the states of Montana and Idaho in leadership roles dedicated to the management and conservation of forests and rangeland. He served as the director of the Idaho Department of Lands and secretary to the State Board of Land Commissioners, where he oversaw the management of 2.4 million surface acres of endowment lands and 3.3 million acres of endowment minerals. Tom spent fourteen years with the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC) where he served as the administrator of the DNRC Trust Lands Division and Water Resources Division. Tom’s ability to build coalitions, engage rural communities, and drive meaningful policy changes makes him the ideal person to address the wildfire and budgetary challenges facing the Forest Service. His pragmatic and results-oriented approach is precisely what is needed to ensure responsible stewardship of our national forests and the vitality of the wood products industry. In addition to his long list of professional accomplishments, Tom holds a bachelor’s degree in government from the University of Virginia as well as master’s degrees in both political science and forestry from the University of Wyoming and University of Montana, respectively. IFG cannot thank Tom enough for his unparalleled leadership and expertise ─ he will be missed greatly, but we wish him and his family nothing but the best in his new position. Tom’s last day with IFG will be Tuesday, February 4, 2025. Please join us in congratulating Tom and his well-deserved appointment! Read the official USDA press release HERE: https://lnkd.in/eea3EeMy
