In this final week of Women's History Month we wanted to share the importance of Creating Space for Women in Tech, with the thought of another of our guest Bloggers and i.c.stars |* Milwaukee supporters. WENDY DOLE is no stranger to looking for her space in tech, and over her impressive 30 year career she has been able to not only carve her own path she has ensured the pathway stay open for those coming behind her by sitting on the boards of organizations like Women in Technology Wisconsin (WiT) and 100+ Women Who Care - Milwaukee. "One of the most persistent challenges is the false notion that there are only a few seats at the table for women in tech.....We need to break the mindset of scarcity and embrace one of abundance. There is room for all of us." A Memorable Visit: Hosting Andres Chavez in Milwaukee What an incredible 24 hours hosting Andres Chavez in Milwaukee! He truly embodies the humble and gracious spirit of his grandfather Cesar Chavez's legacy. We learned so much about the Cesar Chavez Foundation and how its four business units are advancing the needs of the Latino community. Fresh off the plane, Andres made time to speak with a member of the Brown Berets who couldn't attend the main event. The respect he showed these civil rights champions and his genuine gratitude for everyone who wanted time with him was remarkable. He participated in a once in a lifetime High Tea with our i.c.stars |* Milwaukee interns. He shared about growing up in the movement and how his understanding of his grandfather's impact has grown and evolved, his words and the work his family still does resonated deeply with our interns. He was able to inspire by so openly sharing: *The importance of respect in your work and relationships *Believing in yourself as your tool to overcoming imposter syndrome *The essential role of resilience in success Then a remarkable dinner with Milwaukee's community leaders was impactful—seeing professionals from various industries discussing opportunities, closing gaps, and ensuring representation within their organizations. Thank you MOVIDA for providing us the perfect space to break bread and have meaningful conversations, and Synergy Technology Advisors for hosting. I fear tagging the attendees and missing anyone. Today having Andres as our keynote speaker at our Hack the Dream event was truly an honor. His words inspired everyone, and he graciously took time for photos with each attendee. Before heading to the airport, we stopped at Radio Milwaukee, where Kenny Perez gave us a behind-the-scenes tour. Having a front row seat watching these two passionate advocates for music and public radio exchange ideas was truly inspiring. I think they both left with inspiration and new idea, as well as a hope to connect again. Andres, we truly enjoyed showing you a just a glimpse of our city, and we hope you are serious about returning soon—Summerfest awaits! Today at Hack the Dream, the Brown Berets were honored for their legacy of courage and activism. They received a proclamation from County Executive David Crowley, a plaque of honor from i.c.stars, and retired U.S. flags from U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin. In a powerful recognition of their work, their names were even mentioned in the U.S. Senate, a testament to their fearless fight for Chicano equality in Milwaukee during the 1960s and 70s. We were honored to have Kyle Ashley from the County Executive’s Office and Tiffany Henry from Senator Baldwin’s office join us. Following the proclamation, Maria Cruz presented her research on the Brown Berets, further shedding light on their enduring impact. Moments like these remind us of the power of activism and the importance of honoring those who paved the way for progress. ??? #HackTheDream #BrownBerets #ChicanoHistory #CommunityLeadership #EquityAndJustice

Women's History Month honors the incredible women who juggle it all, and our next blog feature is a perfect example. This week, she’s being recognized as one of Milwaukee’s 40 Under 40, serves on the state board for Women in Tech, excels in her demanding full-time career, supports her husband’s business, and showers love on her three boys at home. Dana Moyano manages it all with style, grace, and humor as you will see in her story. "Many of us are working long before our “official” workday begins. As soon as daylight hits, we somehow manage to pull it together, no matter how little sleep we’ve had, and show up for our families—and sometimes, if we’re lucky, for ourselves." Read Dana's full story here: https://lnkd.in/gRCQ9scM This Women's History Month we celebrate all the women in our network who tirelessly (and often sleepless) keep us all going! Keys to Success. This Women's History Month we reached out to Julia Boss, Principal Program Manager at GE HealthCare to learn what she feels her Keys to Success are. The Top 3 that Julia pointed out - Relationships Matter!, Ability to adapt while having a sense of humor, Have a plan (or three). "Having the ability to adapt is important, but to do so with a sense of humor is critical. Julia often finds the best way to manage change is to find and embrace a theme, a mascot, or a song… something others can rally around." You can read Julias thoughts here: https://lnkd.in/gwcBpZrE This Women's History Month we salute all the amazing women who mentor, volunteer, and lift up our interns and alumni.
