Lake Superior School District held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of significant upgrades, made possible by community support for the $44.1M referendum. The improvements include updated infrastructure, enhanced security, new collaborative learning spaces, and a new cafetorium to spark creativity and performance. At ICS, we're proud to stand as advocates for SF 1198, a critical piece of legislation that will help drive positive change for public schools across Minnesota. If approved, this bill would give school boards the levy authority to fund roof repairs and replacement using Long-Term Facilities Maintenance (LTFM) dollars. School districts are struggling to maintain adequate property insurance due to aging roofs; many of them are beyond their useful life. With limited ways to fund these improvements, districts are faced with difficult decisions to maintain their facilities. Our own Business Development Director, Jason Splett, spoke in front of the Minnesota Senate on March 11. We're committed to supporting policies that improve our state, and SF 1198 is a step in the right direction.
