Yesterday, we held another CIOx Club meeting, established in collaboration with Milestone and ICRC. It was exciting to welcome new members to our growing club, which continues to deliver real value through learning and sharing.
This time, we gathered at the impressive offices of Cato Networks, with exceptional hospitality. A big thank you to Daniel Chen, Cato’s CIO, for hosting us so wonderfully!
What Did We Cover?
Kickoff Session:
We began with an introduction to Cato’s platform, learning about the company’s journey, product evolution, and impressive vision for the future.
A Captivating Lecture by Alon Talmor, CEO of Ask-AI and PhD in AI/NLP
Delivered a fascinating session exploring the challenges of implementing AI in organizations.
Key takeaways included:
The limitations of AI in understanding organizational-specific data like internal terminology and proprietary products.
A clear explanation of how LLMs (Large Language Models) work, how ChatGPT was trained, and the connection between word associations in the brain and AI models.
Concepts like RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) & how data quality impacts model performance.
Why many organizations may prefer Private Cloud implementations for security and privacy, while integrating third-party tools for more advanced needs.
Round Table Discussion: Buy vs. Build in AI:
Highly engaged discussion on whether to develop AI capabilities in-house or buy 3rd party.
The focus extended beyond development to ongoing support, emphasizing how AI must evolve as a "living product."
We also discussed the cumulative costs of AI across multiple products and the potential for consolidating SaaS tools into unified AI platforms.
Measuring ROI on AI Investments:
One of the most engaging discussions focused on defining KPIs and measuring ROI, as the forum explored ways to evaluate the business value of AI, whether developed internally or acquired externally
AI Use Cases at Cato:
Daniel Chen presented AI use cases at Cato, from HR improvements and productivity boosts to integrating GitHub Copilot into software development.
GitHub Copilot enhanced processes like code review, bug detection, and more.
Cato’s managerial focus & structured approach to AI include building a pipeline for new use cases and documenting business processes to identify future opportunities for AI integration.
Summary and Looking Ahead
This was an inspiring and high-quality session with meaningful discussions and insights. Even with limited time, we could have easily continued for hours!
It’s amazing to see the enthusiasm of the group, with members already volunteering to host the next event.
A huge thank you to Daniel Finchelstein, Menny Barzilay, and Linor Spitz for your partnership, and to all the participants who made this session such a professional and enriching experience!
