Earlier this week ICON was honored to join Hebrew SeniorLife, the Affordable Housing network of supporters, and all of Simon C. Fireman to celebrate the completion of the 45-unit, Passive House Certified expansion and the community’s 40th anniversary. This follows the modernization upgrades in the original 160 units completed in 2020.?With this re-energized home, Simon C. Fireman can continue to serve its elders with Right Care, Right Place, and Right Time, focused on the link between housing and healthcare. The project successfully increases density on an existing occupied site while preserving the character and charm of its original shingle-style massing. Physical new connections are made from dead end corridors to a variety of new amenity spaces supporting new friendship bonds and social connections. #ICONArchitecture #PassiveHouse #AffordableHousing

We’re excited about the progress on the Lincoln Community Center! Our team, led by Ned Collier AIA, LEED AP, had a great site visit exploring how this 20,000 GSF new construction multigenerational space will connect with the landscape. Designed to house the Parks & Recreation Department, the Council on Aging & Human Services, and after-school programs, this project is all about serving the whole community. I've always had a passion for connecting buildings and landscapes, so the Lincoln Community Center must be a passion project! Yesterday we spent the morning walking the site with Lynne Giesecke, her Studio 2112 Landscape Architecture team, and the future building occupants. We described the inside-outside connections, but also explored the boundaries of our site to better understand the how the new landscape will stitch together with the existing town environment. It was a beautiful summer morning in Lincoln. I look forward to sharing the project as we progress.
