Intra-OIC Trade and Investment: Navigating Challenges in 2023? ? According to the ICIEC 2023 Annual Report, intra-OIC trade grew from USD 4,370 million in 2019 to USD 5,365 million in 2023, while intra-OIC investments faced challenges, declining from USD 1,047 million in 2019 to USD 832 million in 2023. Despite these gains, the path to boosting intra-OIC #trade and #investment is met with hurdles, including the lingering impacts of the pandemic, geopolitical tensions, and global economic slowdowns. ICIEC’s intervention through the provision of export credit and political risk insurance was more crucial than ever to support Member States in securing strategic commodities and fostering cross-border trade and investments. Advancing Gender Equality in Trade and Credit Insurance The World Trade Organization (WTO) and ICISA - International Credit Insurance & Surety Association are working to promote women’s participation in global trade through informal working groups. Recent initiatives like The #Gambia’s #SheTrades programme and the Jokallenteh Market platform have empowered 130+ women-owned businesses and secured USD 3 million in public tenders. ICIEC also champions diversity, with female leaders driving progress in its 50 member states. Gender equality in trade is key to unlocking global opportunities.
