ICICLE AI Institute organized a hands-on outreach activity for students taking Computer Science courses at the Columbus School for Girls (CSG) in Columbus OH. This was an excellent opportunity for students to get an overview of how Artificial Intelligence (AI) and CyberInfrastruture (CI) software components can be used to detect animal behavior and movement across landscapes and how data collected from field sensors, agricultural field machinery and remote sensors (e.g., UAV and satellite) can be used to assess crop health and crop management interventions. They also had the opportunity to tour the server facility and learn more about clusters used for computing solutions and deployment.

ICICLE AI Institute workshop at Linden-Mckinley STEM Academy, Columbus, OH providing high school students an opportunity to learn about AI in a fun environment. ICICLE’s Digital Agriculture Project Co-Leader Assistant Professor Hari Subramoni and ICICLE Applications Developer Zeyu Yuan interacted with passionate and creative students introducing them to Digital Agriculture domain and technology. The one-day workshop/hackathon for high schoolers was hosted by?OHI/O, Ohio State’s hackathon program.

ICICLE AI Institute at the Mount Scholars Roundtable, The Ohio State University. Exciting discussions with the Mounties to stimulate dialogue and establish different perspectives on the impacts of Artificial Intelligence and automation on possible future careers. One of the Mount Leadership Society Scholar said, “The future is unclear; however, what is clear is the impact that technology has on our society”. ICICLE PI Dhabaleswar K. (DK) Panda in his presentation to the Mounties shared the Institute’s vision on creating Intelligent Cyberinfrastructure for computing continuum in the modern AI era and Democratizing AI. He provided examples on how the Institute is co-designing an AI-enabled Cyberinfrastructure within the three use-inspired domains - Smart Foodsheds, Digital Agriculture, and Animal Ecology and how users can interact with AI positively.
