Others face life tragedies or perhaps were dealt a more difficult hand. But when it comes to #luck, I'd like to believe we create our own luck and have the opportunity to change the luck depending on how we approach life. Awesome case this past week in Lakeland FL. ICHOR Vascular Inc. 14F system treated popliteal to iliac veins (12mm-15mm) with 4 sweeps in ~20 minutes from access to final balloon pass. No blood loss, no capital equipment, never lost wire access. Tricky anatomy (no natural IVC) but a solid outcome to restore the main outflow.

The Fogarty balloon sweep to surgically remove clot is arguably the biggest innovation in vascular surgery. We agree!
Great to catch up with Mike Mussallem, recently retired CEO of Edwards Lifesciences. The history here goes way back; Edwards Lifesciences purchased Dr. Tom Fogarty's first invention, the Fogarty balloon embolectomy catheter. Invented in 1961, the catheter revolutionized vascular surgery and is still the most widely used technique for blood clot removal. It also paved the way for other minimally invasive procedures including angioplasty. #medtech #innovation #history
