???Last month it was a real honor for ICDLA to welcome a wonderful group of International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) participants on the topic of Women Screenwriters in Contemporary Hindi Cinema. ??? ? ???We were excited to arrange a special opportunity for them to meet with three women executives at Netflix: Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria (a former member of Meridian International Center Board of Trustees ), Global Senior Manager of Studio Investment Policy 柯婕思Jess Conoplia, and Director of?Studio Scripted Series - UCAN Carolina Garcia where they explored the art and business of storytelling. Their conversation delved into TV content trends, regional viewership patterns, and the key ingredients behind a show's global success. They also discussed the representation of South Asian narratives on the world stage, highlighting the importance of authenticity in storytelling, where culturally rich, locally inspired stories can captivate audiences far beyond their borders. Our visitors shared insights from their own creative journeys, with some of their works already streaming on Netflix and Amazon Prime. ? The stories they bring to life are not just entertaining but also culturally significant, paving the way for more diverse voices in media.????
