Today we celebrate International Commonwealth Day. Did you know that ICB is the only accredited bookkeeping organisation across the whole of the Commonwealth? ? ICB's accreditation was originally awarded in 2014 and means we are part of a network of over 90 organisations worldwide, spanning diverse sectors from education to urban planning. These organisations, all recognised for meeting stringent eligibility criteria, are united by their dedication to the shared values of democracy, human rights, and the rule of law, as outlined in the Commonwealth Charter. ? Recently, ICB's Head of Global Partnerships, Alina Siatkovskaia, attended the Secretary-General’s Luncheon for Commonwealth Accredited Organisations at Marlborough House in London. FYI: The Commonwealth is a voluntary group of nations that forms the Commonwealth of Nations. It comprises?56 member states. The Commonwealth nations are spread across different continents, with 21 in Africa, 13 in the Caribbean and the Americas, 11 in the Pacific Islands, 8 in Asia, and 3 in Europe. The combined population is approximately 2.7 billion people (Europe by comparison has 745 million). 60% of this population mass is aged 29 or under.

On International Women's Day 2025, Bookkeeping has long been a profession dominated by women, and while that’s something to be celebrated, it doesn’t mean equality has been fully achieved. IWD is a time to reflect on the incredible contribution that women make to the world of business, to recognise the progress we’ve made, and to acknowledge the work still to be done. At ICB, we celebrate all our members – women, men and non-binary people - who support and uplift each other in this profession. We hope you all take a moment to appreciate and celebrate the amazing women in your lives.?
