Just one week to go until ICA Cristo Rey's 15th Annual Business Lunch! This year, we are proud to celebrate the 15th anniversary of ICA Cristo Rey’s membership in the Cristo Rey Network, a group of 40 Catholic high schools nationwide that integrate a college preparatory education with a unique Corporate Work Study experience. ICA students credit the Corporate Work Study program and the caring ICA community for helping them develop the confidence they need to engage their futures with boldness. Come experience Team Confidence in action at the Business Lunch next Wednesday, March 27th! Every dollar raised at the event helps offset tuition costs, keeping ICA Cristo Rey one of the nation's most affordable independent all-girls schools.

Last Friday, Latinas Unidas and the Sophomore Mutual Aid Group joined forces to fundraise for Bridge Academy’s immigration legal expenses, supporting their newcomer students. Our sale was a huge success, featuring delicious chocobananos, fruta, esquites, horchata, bolis, chicharrones, and more—all generously donated and prepared by our amazing families for this important cause. In just 35 minutes, our Spartans raised over $630 for Bridge Academy! A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed, whether by donating, preparing, or purchasing. Your support made this possible! #service #community #veritas #justice

ICA Cristo Rey's Athletics Program is a testament to the deep sense of community among students, alumnae, and families of ICA Cristo Rey. The Carballo and Marin-Valencia family stands out as an embodiment of the Spartan spirit among the many dedicated athletes and supportive families of ICA. In this week's Team Confidence newsletter, we’re spotlighting four amazing ICA student-athletes: sisters Natza '18, Bridgette '22, and Makayla Marin-Valencia '25, along with their cousin Kimberly Carballo '22. They are joined by their dads and ICA coaches, brothers Nelson Marin and Sam Carballo. This family's story is intertwined with the success of ICA’s soccer team. Yesterday marked the beginning of the Lenten season with Ash Wednesday. Together as a community, we gathered around the Eucharistic table to reflect on our spiritual journey, receive the sign of the cross in ashes, and renew our commitment to prayer, fasting, and almsgiving as we prepare our hearts for the joy of Easter.

One of the incredible women guiding the next generation is Tracey Watkowski Silva, Vice President of News at KGO-TV ABC7. For 15 years, KGO-TV ABC7 has partnered with ICA Cristo Rey, providing students first-hand experience in the world of journalism. Through this partnership, students have been receiving valuable exposure to newsroom operations and the power of storytelling. "It has been a great experience having the students in our building and especially in our newsroom, where they are learning about journalism, learning about news in San Francisco," says Watkowski. "The school is just outstanding, and we're happy to be a part of it to support these young women and give them opportunities to be exposed to a workplace." The Class of 2027 recently went on their sophomore retreat at the Motherhouse of the MSJ Dominican Sisters. Our sophomores learned about the Dominican pillar of service by exploring the twofold commandment of love: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ [and] ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these” (Mark 12:30-31).
