Special thanks to Holt Hackney for publishing my op-ed on the urgent need for a global governance system for AI. As a tech entrepreneur over the past five years, I've learned a lot from MIT faculty and brilliant minds like Sahar Cain and have written on the tangible benefits of polymathic AI in medical science, human capital management, and various industries. As we pause to reflect this Thanksgiving 2024, we find ourselves at the threshold of an uncontrolled arms race to achieve superintelligence—AI systems capable of surpassing human cognitive abilities in virtually every domain, from creativity and problem-solving to decision-making. The relentless pace of AI development is outstripping the ability of traditional regulations, such as those introduced in the E.U. Act, to remain relevant or effective. In my article, I emphasize the emergence of an "AI-polar world," where technological hegemony extends beyond nation-states to influential tech conglomerates. That said, China has now caught up to the U.S. in AI capabilities. This underscores the critical importance of establishing robust governance frameworks to navigate the complexities of AI's rapid advancement. In the words of the late Dr. Henry Kissinger, in his last book, Genesis: Artificial Intelligence, Hope, and the Human Spirit, "we are on our way to facing an existential crisis that humanity has never faced, being accelerated at a pace beyond prior human experience." Now is the time for business leaders, policymakers, and technologists to come together and establish the safeguards needed to ensure that AI advances responsibly, ethically, and for the benefit of all. The goal should not be to slow down development or sabotage innovation but to ensure transparency as those in the lead speed up their work. By fostering accountability and collaboration, we can shape a future where AI becomes a force for positive transformation rather than a source of uncontrolled risk. #AI #ResponsibleAI #TalentDisruption https://lnkd.in/gESkVmAk
