"In a world where our skills have been almost instantly and brutally commoditized, how can we convince people that we're worth it?" This was the question by Dorie Clark at IABC EMENA's Online Connect that explored a brutal truth: the comms profession is being disrupted by #AI. How do we succeed in this new landscape? Clark insisted that our value lies not just in what we do, but in who we are and how we connect people and ideas. Over the next few weeks, we'll share key moments and lessons from Clark's presentation. ???? Discussion last night in Berlin about the future of our communication profession. Here is the first sneak photo where Christopher Wade (he/him) shares how he coaches his team to help them identify what they need to upskill on. Coaching is a key skill for all leaders. This followed a key discussion with Sigrid Osterrieth moments earlier, who shared about the need for a personal growth plan and to be constantly re-evaluating this as it changes over time. Steffen Türk added how you need to know what communication stands for and challenge leadership, building those stakeholder relationship skills. The conversation covered where we are now with our profession, what outcomes we'll be looking for in the future, and how we can upskill our teams and hire right to get there. Moderated by Monique Zytnik, the discussion was lively with great questions from the audience and concrete examples from our inspiring panelists. A huge thank you to Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Deutschland and in particular Franziska, Tony, and Sebastian on the event team, for hosting this event and delivering such professional support. Our gratitude also goes to Staffbase for their sponsorship of IABC Berlin City Connect 2024 and support of our communication profession. Thank you to our IABC EMENA member Melanie Geiben for her role in organising this stellar event. More insights coming soon.
