关于我们
i.c.stars was established to create economic opportunity for underserved communities by bridging disconnected young adults with the high growth tech sector. Participants learn by doing; they build web based applications to solve client challenges - with coding, business, and leadership instruction provided along the way. They also gain the professional network needed to jumpstart their careers. i.c.stars graduates become technologists who earn living wages (300% more than before) working as application developers or business analysts. They create nonprofits and advocate for change, putting into action i.c.stars’ definition of leadership: making opportunities for others. i.c.stars also works to change employer perceptions and practices around nontraditional talent by engaging each year hundreds of employers through industry conferences and convenings. Currently in Chicago, Milwaukee and Kansas City. Contact info@icstars.org for more information.

From Chemical Engineering to a 30-Year Career in Tech Some career paths are carefully mapped out. Others? They unfold in ways we never expected. For Melissa Summers, Managing Director at Accenture, a degree in chemical engineering didn’t lead to the job she imagined, but it did open the door to an incredible 30-year journey in technology. In honor of Women’s History Month, Melissa shares her story: from developer to leader, from uncertainty to advocacy. She reminds us that success isn’t just about where you start, it’s about how you navigate the twists, turns, and people who believe in you along the way. “Your career is your own. Your priorities will evolve, but staying true to yourself is key.” Melissa’s story is a powerful reminder that sometimes, the best opportunities come when we take a leap of faith. Who has believed in you and helped shape your journey? Drop a comment and celebrate those who’ve made an impact!
