?? The company has been born! ?? As of 12 November 2024, 'I See U Health Care Solutions' is officially incorporated! A milestone worth celebrating, and what better way than with traditional Dutch "baby is born" cookies? ?? It felt fitting, as this journey is fueled by the dream of giving the tiniest babies and their families the best chance at a happy and healthy life. With I See U Baby Care, we aim to make a real difference in neonatology units. By introducing objective sleep measurements, we strive to help health care professionals and parents optimize care for premature babies by minimizing sleep interruptions to support their critical development. ?? The Origins of I See U Baby Care Sleep research in premature babies has only been extensively explored in the last few decades, and many questions still remain. At the Wilhelmina Kinderziekenhuis (Het WKZ) in Utrecht, researchers under the supervision of doctor, researcher, and sleep expert Dr. Jeroen Dudink have been focusing on understanding what sleep in premature infants truly looks like and how it affects the brain. After years of research, they have published a validated behavioral scoring method to detect sleep stages in premature infants. [https://lnkd.in/ePXYyceY] This groundbreaking work provided the perfect foundation for collaboration with behavioral analysis and artificial intelligence expert Dr. Ronald Poppe at Universiteit Utrecht. Under his supervision, several researchers have been working on automating the behavioral analysis methods using machine learning algorithms. Working together with brilliant applied science students, master students, PhD students and postdocs, these experts are continuing their promising research, which will lead to a much better understanding of the positive effects that optimal sleep can have on the health of premature infants, both immediately and in the future. I (Chanel Sam), too, was one of the master students involved. When it became clear that this research could have some real impact on the ward, fruitful discussions about the possibilities arose. And we even entered the Ureka Mega Challenge. To be continued in a future post... Right now, we decided that I would found the start-up I See U Baby Care, so that the knowledge created by these experts can reach as many hospitals as possible. ???The mission of I See U is to translate cutting-edge research into practical solutions that improve neonatal care worldwide. #neonatalcare #prematurebabies #sleepresearch #ISeeUBabyCare #innovation #healthtech #WKZ #UtrechtUniversity #UMCU

?? Introducing I See U Baby Care: A Breakthrough in Neonatal Care! ???? I See U Baby Care exists because we believe that every baby deserves the best start in life. We are on a mission to bring promising science from UMC Utrecht, Wilhelmina Kinderziekenhuis (Het WKZ) and Universiteit Utrecht into the real world of neonatal care. ?? What do we offer? I See U Baby Care is preparing the launch of an innovative smart camera system, specifically designed to improve care for vulnerable newborns in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs). Our system makes sleep measurable and actionable, enabling medical personnel to objectively optimize sleep and, in turn, improve a baby’s chances for healthy development. ??? ?? Why it matters: Sleep is essential for the healthy growth and recovery of premature babies. Yet, preterm babies often face a hectic NICU environment with severe sleep deprivation. Moreover, the sleep behavior of premature babies can resemble wakefullness, leading to unnecessary sleep disruptions. Our smart camera system monitors sleep patterns in real-time, helping healthcare providers minimize disturbances and tailor care to each newborn’s unique needs. We make sleep measurable, actionable, and insightful—ready for healthcare professionals to use. #neonatalcare #prematurebabies #sleephealth #NICU #innovation #healthtech #ISeeUBabyCare #UMCU #WKZ #UtrechtUniversity
