She previously served as Senior Vice President of Enterprise Communications at the American Cancer Society and spent nearly a decade as VP of Communications & Product Strategies at the American Medical Association. As a journalist for 7+ years, Steph got her start in television working for ABC News, Good Morning America, and World News Tonight with Peter Jennings. ? Kaletta L. has over 20 years of experience in government, organizational management, project management, and social media management. Kaletta was appointed to serve as the 1st Chief Equity Officer for the Salt Lake City Mayor’s Office and the 1st Project Manager for Salt Lake City’s 1st Racial Equity in Policing Commission, and was the first Black woman to run for City Council in District 3 of West Valley City, UT. Our stories have power. And too often, gatekeepers decide whose stories get to be told, celebrated, championed, and retold. Which are worthy. And we are all poorer for it. Your story is worthy. I love when worlds collide -- seeing Cheryl Stokes who I knew from our work at Duke Corporate Education and Elizabeth Leiba, the prolific educator and truth-teller I came to know through LinkedIn, in conversation is gold. Yet, despite the excitement around my initiative to help 100 Black men write and publish their dream books, **I haven’t had one appointment set.** And I’m comparing this number to the MORE THAN 100 women I interviewed for my first writing cohort in August. TWENTY SEVEN women are already writing the book of their dreams. In just the past week MORE THAN THIRTY Black women have set appointments with me to discuss how to become published authors, joining my October cohort of writers. Where are my Black Kings?? ?? Thank you, Kings ?? for your fearless leadership!! BUT where are the other Black men helping to lead the revolution of WORDS?! James Baldwin showed us the POWER of the PEN!! ??? But there ARE NOT enough Black men on LinkedIn positioning themselves as thought leaders. Black women are doing it all! ????♀? I have created SEVERAL initiatives to amplify the voices of Black women. And without fail I get comments and messages from Black men DEMANDING a program for them. NOW I’ve created something for the brothers and I hear ?? ?? ?? Where are the Black men ready to step up and immortalize their lives, thoughts and ideas in a BOOK? ?? I’m ready when YOU are.
