Educate. Empower. Achieve.

关于我们

The "I Have A Dream" Foundation is working to ensure that all children have the opportunity to pursue higher education. We empower children in under-resourced communities to achieve their goals by providing them with guaranteed tuition support and equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and habits they need to gain entry to succeed in college and beyond. By helping our Dreamers gain access to post-secondary training and education, we put them on a different academic and life trajectory - impacting the students, their families, and the generations that follow.

"I Have A Dream" Foundation's work in Social Emotional Learning (SEL) focuses on an evidence-based approach following the?Collaborative for Academic, Social and Emotional Learning (CASEL)5?competencies which include: self-awareness, self-management, relationship skills, responsible decision-making and social awareness. At IHDF, these skills are developed through individual and group sessions utilizing Wayfinder?and?Overcoming Obstacles, two respected social and emotional learning curricula. Decades of research highlight the importance of social and emotional learning for success in school, career, and life. SEL support helps children heal from experiences with tragedy and violence, puts them on a path toward self-reliance by promoting skills that help them succeed in and out of school, and promotes equity and healthy relationships. Students who?participate in SEL programs perform measurably better in school. They engage in fewer risky or unhealthy behaviors. They are more likely to graduate high school,?complete a college degree and be employed, earn greater income, show more resilience, and manage conflicts nonviolently.

  • Black History Month is a time to celebrate, reflect on the impact of Black individuals throughout history, and learn. At IHDF, we’ve long valued the power of knowledge and education as a way to understand our shared past, foster inclusivity, and break down barriers. Here’s to another year of learning and growing together! ??

  • Across the IHDF network, our chapters and affiliates came together last week on MLK Day to honor the legacy of Dr. King and the work that inspires our name. Pictured here are just some of the meaningful service projects our teams took on: New York Alumni, East Harlem Dreamers, and our social work interns assembled care packages for college Dreamers; East Harlem Cohort I Dreamers volunteered at The Association to Benefit Children, a local childcare center dedicated to afterschool support, to read about Dr. King’s legacy, help with homework, and make art; and our Atlanta team, community members, and Dreamer Scholars made vibrant "kindness rocks" for permanent display in their school’s courtyard, serving as a happy reminder of the importance of community. We are grateful for our teams nationwide and the ways they live Dr. King’s vision of unity and service each day. ??

Today we celebrate the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.—work that helped forever change the course of racial equality in America. It is a work unfinished, but one that has yielded a profound national transformation and brought us closer to the promises made by America’s Founding Fathers. We at the “I Have A Dream” Foundation have always been inspired by the work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and seek to do our small part in realizing his “Dream” of freedom and equality. Throughout his life, Dr. King fought hatred and injustice with tolerance and love, and his example should inspire us all. We should take advantage of this holiday, this commemoration, by engaging in big and small acts of Love. We must continue our growth and reach that mountain top. We must work to ensure that our society judges each of our citizens “not by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” The “I Have A Dream” Foundation supports its Dreamer Scholars throughout the educational process, giving them the tools they need to turn their dreams into reality. In doing so, they break down barriers—not just to Dr. King’s Dream—but to the American Dream! Today, we celebrate what Dr. King did for this nation and work to keep more than just his memory alive.
